Dear Dr. Homer: Thank you for your response to my January 11 query on Charles Sheeler and Marsden Hartly. I have been involved in some independent research on each of them - particularily on Sheeler. My interest for some time has been in the early works of the artists: where the style and imagery came from and how it matured. The early work of all artists interests me for those same reasons. I am in the Ph. D. program here - working on Edwin Dickinson. If you are ever in State College, come by the Museum of Art for a tour. We have a modest but growing collection which includes fine examples by Prendergast, Shinn, Dubois, Maurer, Henri and others. Again, thank you for responding and best wishes for the Spring - (which I hope is coming soon). Sincerely, John P. Driscoll Registrar JPD/bw March 14, 1978 Dictated by Mr. Driscoll and signed in his absence.
