April 27, 1967 Ms. Edith Halpert 465 Park Avenue New York, New York Dear Mrs. Halpert It was a pleasure to meet you and chat about Arthur Dove last week. You were very kind to show me his work and that of John Storrs. Perhaps I should have told you at that time that I am giving a seminar on Twentieth Century American Art, with the emphasis on many of the artists in the Stieglitz circle. This is why the Dove show was of particular interest to me, I also want to mention that I have a graduate student, Roberta K. Tarbell, working on an M.A. thesis on the effect of the Armory Show on American sculpture. She tells me that she plans to get in touch with you, and I just want to say that she is an intelligent and serious student working under my direction. Any help you can give her will be warmly appreciated. I hope that one day we could persuade you to pay us a visit here and see the facilities which we are developing for the study of American art. I have enclosed an informal description of the graduate program for your information. With best regards Sincerely yours. William I. Homer Chairman
