Transcript	September 25, 1967 Mrs. Edith C. Halpert, Director The Downtown Gallery 465 Park Avenue New York, N. Y. 10022 Dear Mrs. Halpert: Thank you very much for your kind letter of July 7. I was pleased to have your comments on the contemporary art scene. Your kindness to my student, Roberta Tarbell, was very much appreciated. I am sure she will do justice to the subject that she is writing on. She was very much impressed by the material which you have in the gallery. I hope to encourage her to continue working in the field of American Art. So, perhaps you will meet her again. We would welcome a visit from you anytime you are passing through this neighborhood. We are on the main line of the Pennsylvania Railroad between New York and Washington. There is a great deal of activity, as you know, in American Art in this region.
