May 22, 1974 [Author's inquiry] The Editor The Listener Broadcasting House London WIA lAA England Dear Sir: I am doing research for an exliibition of the work of the American-born artist Pamela Colman Smith (1877/78 - ?) who took up residence in London in 1899. A painter and illustrator, she was associated with William Butler Yeats, Jack Yeats, Arthur Symons, Lady Gregory, Gordon Craig, and Walter Crane, among others. She dropped out of sight about 1915, and her contribution has been largely overlooked. Considering the prominence of her associates and the striking originality of her work, she deserves further recognition and study. I would be pleased to hear from any readers who have information about her later life or who own her works. Sincerely, William I. Homer Chairman
