A non-profit corporation devoted to charitable, educational, & literary purposes 'M THE JARGON SOCIETY, INC. October 26, 1982 Corn Close Professor William I. Homer Department of Art History University of Delaware Newark, Delaware 19711, USA Dear Bill, I, too, spoke again by phone with Glen Wroten a couple of weeks ago and gave him the all-clear to print the book. Since Doyle Moore is resolutely hiding from my protestant wrath, I discussed the covers with Glen and added a few details to the back. Mr. Moore allowed for no flaps, but, since he has never tried to sell a book in his life, he probably has forgotten they have a function. Glen made his cover design sound ok, so we'll leave it at that and cross various fingers. Except for an immediate few copies to you, the edition is to be shipped to INLAND BOOK COMPANY (address below), our distributor. The gent in charge there is David Wilk. I'll send David a copy of this letter and ask him to send you 50 copies as soon as he has stock. You may use these for complementariness, etc. JARGON SOCIETY will send out review copies, and additional comps. What we need from you is your list of art publications and addresses (ditto with individuals) you want us to send copies to. Please send that information both to David and to me. And it wouldn't be a bad idea for us to know to whom you are sending comps, lest we make duplications. Once I am back in Highlands just before Thanksgiving, I'll prepare a letter to go out with the review copies. I propose that the official publication date be January 4th, Mr. Hartley's birthday. We will get the review copies out a month before then so people will have them to read with their brandy and plum pudding. His sojourn in the land of the hula seems to have driven our designer positively wacko. I just hope he's not screwed us up and only made us wait an extra year in order to be disappointed. Our last two books have been minor triumphs«, so I have hope in this case too. All the best, Jonathan Williams
