June 23, 1980 Ms. Nancy Carlisle Treat Gallery Bates College Lewiston, Maine 04240 Dear Ms. Carlisle: Thank you very much for your note, in reply to my query on Marsden Hartley. It is a miracle that the letter got to you. Following my earlier query, on Hartley, I wonder if you have any kind of catalogue or checklist of the Hartley material in your possession. If no such information exists, could you give me a rough idea of what you have, in an informal way. I am naturally interested in Hartley as part of the Stieglitz circle and as a representative of avant-garde movements in American art in the early 20th century. I do appreciate your help and your prompt reply. With best regards, Sincerely, William I. Homer Chairman
