April 23, 1980 Ms. Judy Metro Yale University Press 92A Yale Station New Haven, Connecticut 06520 Dear Ms. Metro: I have just seen the Marsden Hartley catalogue issued by the Whitney Museum of American Art. As you may recall, I read this in manuscript for the Yale University Press. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the many difficult and awkward parts of the text had been eliminated and that it read reasonably well. I was curious to know whether you, in fact, sent the Xerox of the manuscript, with my written comments all over it, to the Whitney Museum. It seems that some of my suggestions were followed and others were not. I am just curious about this, and if you could let me know I would appreciate it. With best regards. Sincerely, William I, Chairman Homer
