July 26, 1974 Mr. Alphaeus F. Cole Dear Mr. Cole: It was good to have a chance to talk with you last night about Pamela Colman Smith. I was delighted to hear that you had known her and to have some of your recollections of her. I hope to discuss your recollections of her in person in the latter part of August. I do have several specific questions which I hope you can answer by mail. I am enclosing a stamped self-addressed envelope for your use. You mentioned that you had kept a diary. Would this have any reference to Pamela Colman Smith's later life, particularly what happened to her after 1914. You mentioned that she became a Catliolic and ran a home for retired priests on the northwest coast of England. Would you recall the location of this home or anything else about her later life. You mentioned that you had a friend whose son might have known about Pamela Colman Smith's death. If you can remember the name of this person or his son I would be very grateful. If you would care to write me, any recollections which you have of Pamela Colman Smith, I would be delighted to have them for ay records. Anything at all which you care to write would be welcome. I will be in touch with you about the date when I will be in Old Lyme. I might mention I got in touch with Mr. Seidman.
