July 12, 1973 Miss Norma Berger 44 St. Stephen Street Boston, Massachusetts 02115 , Dear Miss Berger: I have still another small favor to ask of you. When I wrote you about using the quotations from the material in the Archives of American Art, I also meant to include a request to quote a short phrase, actually only seven words, from one of the Hartley letters to Stieglitz at Yale. The phrase I would like to quote is 'with a sense of authority and conviction.' This is from a letter from Hartley to Stieglitz, July, 1911. If it is all right with you to have me quote this would you kindly drop me a note or say so at the bottom of this letter and mail it back to me. I am enclosing a stamped, self-addressed envelope. I greatly appreciate your cooperation and hope I have not caused you too much trouble. With many thanks and best regards. Sincerely, William I. Homer Chairman WIH:bat Enc.
